HOLA (Health Outreach for Latin America) is an NGO with two key programs we are focusing on:

Women's Health

HOLA employs two licensed Nicaraguan OB/GYNs to work at three separate clinics located in rural communities. In 2021, over 1,400 women visited these clinics, providing them with easier access to advanced screening and other specialized medical services that would not be accessible otherwise. With adequate funding, they hope to have hired OB/GYNs to work in two to three more clinics by the end of the year, improving their outreach to over 2,000 women annually.

Veterinary Care

HOLA has long believed that healthier animals make for healthier communities. HOLA's veterinary teams partner with local veterinarians to help lower the burden of zoonotic diseases on the community. Finally, the Jamie Byers fund offers scholarships to veterinary students to help them achieve their goals and to better support, the next generation of Nicaraguan vets for our volunteers to work alongside.
